Plastic Surgery in Cali, Colombia: Cost and Top Clinics
Plastic surgery in Cali, Colombia runs roughly $2,500 to $6,900 for an all-in package, with published Cali list prices of 15.0 to 16.5 million COP for abdominoplasty (about $4,682 to $5,150), 10.0 million for rhinoplasty (about $3,121) and 12.4 million for gynecomastia (about $3,870) at the 22 September 2026 rate of 3,203.75 COP per USD. The more important answer is one most pages will not give you: sources flatly contradict each other about whether Cali is cheaper or dearer than Bogota and Medellin, and Colombian domestic data points the opposite way from the marketing. We do not rank clinics; we show you the disagreement and how to verify a surgeon.
Quick answer
- Published Cali prices for 2026: abdominoplasty 15.0 to 16.5 million COP ($4,682 to $5,150), rhinoplasty 10.0 million COP ($3,121), gynecomastia 12.4 million COP ($3,870).
- Against national averages, Cali sits below on some procedures and above on others: about 6% below on abdominoplasty, about 15% below on rhinoplasty, about 17% above on gynecomastia.
- One medical tourism source says Cali is “often 10 to 20% lower than other cities”; another says Medellin is 10 to 20% below Bogota with Cali merely competitive. Colombian domestic data contradicts the first claim for abdominoplasty, where Cali is listed 11% to 22% above Medellin. No city price ranking here is settled fact.
- US comparisons here are all-in, patient-reported (RealSelf), the only fair basis against an all-in Colombian package: $8,200 for a tummy tuck, $8,025 for rhinoplasty, $6,050 for gynecomastia.
- Cali sits at about 1,000 metres and is hot and humid year-round, a real comfort factor when you will wear a compression garment for weeks.
- Verify any Cali surgeon in ReTHUS first, then the SCCP directory, which is searchable by city. Colombian law does not restrict cosmetic surgery to plastic surgeons.
How much does plastic surgery cost in Cali?
Below are the three procedures for which city-level Colombian price data exists for Cali, shown next to the other two major cities and the national average, all converted at 3,203.75 COP per USD. These are advertised and aggregated clinic prices, approximate for 2026, not an audited fee survey.
| Procedure | Cali | Medellin | Bogota (north) | National average |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Abdominoplasty, source A | 15.0M / $4,682 | 13.5M / $4,214 | 14.0M / $4,370 | 15.9M / $4,963 |
| Abdominoplasty, source B | 16.5M / $5,150 | 13.5M / $4,214 | 15.0M / $4,682 | Not published |
| Rhinoplasty | 10.0M / $3,121 | 11.0M / $3,433 | 8.75M / $2,731 | 11.75M / $3,668 |
| Gynecomastia | 12.4M / $3,870 | Not published | 8.0M / $2,497 | 10.63M / $3,319 |
Packages quoted to international patients run higher than these domestic figures, which is expected since they bundle transfers, coordination and sometimes accommodation. Nationally those packages run about $3,000 to $6,900 for a full tummy tuck, $2,500 to $6,800 for rhinoplasty and $2,500 to $4,900 for gynecomastia. Against US all-in patient-reported averages of $8,200, $8,025 and $6,050, that is a saving of roughly 15% to 65% depending on where in the range your quote lands.
Is Cali cheaper than Bogota and Medellin?
Sources genuinely disagree, and we are not going to pick a side for you. This is the most useful thing on this page, so here is the disagreement in full.
- One medical tourism platform states that Cali is “often 10 to 20% lower than other cities” in Colombia.
- Another states that Medellin runs 10 to 20% below Bogota, with Cali merely competitive with Medellin, especially for body contouring. These two claims cannot both be true.
- Colombian domestic data contradicts the “Cali is cheapest” claim for abdominoplasty. Two independent datasets list Cali at 15.0 and 16.5 million COP against Medellin at 13.5 million in both: Cali is roughly 11% to 22% above Medellin and 7% to 10% above northern Bogota.
- The pattern reverses for rhinoplasty. In the same dataset Cali at 10.0 million COP is about 9% below Medellin at 11.0 million, though still 14% above northern Bogota at 8.75 million.
Cali is therefore neither reliably the cheapest city nor reliably the most expensive; it moves procedure by procedure, by single-digit to low-double-digit percentages. Compare that with variation inside one city: published rhinoplasty prices in Bogota run from 8.75 million COP in one district to 15.0 million in another, a 71% gap. Which surgeon you choose affects your bill several times more than which city you fly to. Compare the trade-offs in our guides to plastic surgery clinics in Medellin and plastic surgery in Bogota.
What is Cali like to recover in?
Cali is the warm, low-altitude option among Colombia’s three main cosmetic surgery cities. It sits at roughly 1,000 metres, about 3,300 feet, well below Medellin’s 1,500 and Bogota’s 2,640, and is hot and humid most of the year. That cuts both ways: low altitude removes the acclimatisation question Bogota raises and the city is flat, which suits the short, frequent walks surgeons prescribe to reduce clot risk, but heat plus a compression garment worn for weeks is an endurance test, and air conditioning becomes part of the plan rather than a luxury.
Cali appears alongside Bogota and Medellin in every Colombian price dataset and medical tourism platform we work from, so it is an established market rather than an outlier, and it is covered by the SCCP’s city-searchable surgeon directory of more than 40 Colombian cities. On travel, expect fewer direct long-haul options than the capital; many US itineraries connect through Bogota, adding a domestic leg at each end.
What the price does not include
Colombian all-in packages normally cover the surgeon, the anaesthesiologist and pre-anesthetic evaluation, the operating room and team, implants, first-night observation where required, in-stay follow-ups, and in many clinics a mandatory surgical-complications insurance policy, the póliza. Ask for that one by name. Outside the quote:
- Accommodation: $60 to $125 a night supervised, $50 to $90 for a serviced apartment without nursing.
- Lymphatic drainage: $25 to $45 per session, with 10 to 15 sessions commonly prescribed after liposuction in Colombian practice. This is prescribed aftercare, not an upsell.
- Compression garment: 150,000 to 400,000 COP, about $47 to $125, and you will want more than one.
- Private nursing, about $156 to $468, plus medications, labs and consultations at roughly $50 to $200 combined.
- Flights, extra nights beyond the package window, and complication insurance.
Is plastic surgery in Cali safe?
At a licensed facility with a verified specialist, Colombian plastic surgery is a mainstream service; the country recorded 490,944 aesthetic procedures in 2024, of which 321,408 were surgical. But note something about Cali specifically: there is no published Cali-level enforcement or mortality data. The documented figures are for Antioquia, where authorities linked 17 deaths over two years to unlicensed facilities and closed 64 centres, and for Bogota, with 171 inspections and 16 closures in 2026. The absence of Cali figures is an absence of data, not evidence of a clean record. Colombia has no official nationwide cosmetic-surgery mortality rate, so any percentage quoted for the country or a city has been fabricated.
The strongest protective signal is price. A woman died after a procedure at an unlicensed Bogota facility for which she paid 3 to 3.5 million COP, about $940 to $1,090, against a legitimate quote of 10 to 15 million COP, about $3,100 to $4,700. A quote far below the ranges above means something has been removed from it: the specialist surgeon, the physician anaesthesiologist, the licensed operating room, or all three.
How do you vet a plastic surgeon in Cali?
The reason this is your job: as of September 2026, Colombian law does not restrict cosmetic surgery to plastic-surgery specialists. Five bills to require it have failed, and a sixth announced in May 2026 has not passed.
- ReTHUS, the government registry, first. The Ministry of Health’s free Consulta al Ciudadano lookup takes a full name and identification number and returns the registered specialty plus any disciplinary sanctions. It must read “Cirugía Plástica, Estética y Reconstructiva.”
- SCCP directory second. Search the Sociedad Colombiana de Cirugía Plástica Estética y Reconstructiva by name and city, selecting Cali, and confirm it matches ReTHUS. Match that exact society name; a similarly named organisation exists. Society membership is not a licence, which is why ReTHUS comes first.
- The facility. Confirm it is registered in REPS and holds a Health Secretary licence, and confirm your post-operative care happens there rather than in an apartment.
- The anesthesia. Confirm a specialist physician anaesthesiologist will be present, not a technician giving sedation.
Frequently asked questions
Is Cali the cheapest city in Colombia for plastic surgery?
Not according to Colombian domestic price data. One medical tourism source claims Cali runs 10 to 20% below other cities, but two independent Colombian datasets list Cali abdominoplasty above both Medellin and northern Bogota. There is no consistent city ranking to report.
How long do I need to stay in Cali after surgery?
Plan 12 to 17 days: 2 to 3 days before surgery for labs and the pre-anesthetic evaluation, then the 10 to 14 days the CDC advises before flying after major surgery. Mommy makeovers need considerably longer.
Does the heat affect recovery?
It affects comfort and compliance more than anything else. Compression garments are worn for weeks and are harder to tolerate in a hot, humid climate, so choose accommodation with reliable air conditioning and plan prescribed walks for early morning or evening.
Is a cheaper Cali quote a good sign?
Only if it sits inside the published ranges. A quote materially below them is a warning, not a discount: in a documented Colombian case the fatal procedure cost roughly a quarter of the legitimate price. Ask whether the anaesthesiologist, pre-op labs, garment and complications policy are inside the number.
