I’m from the Netherlands and recently traveled to Cartagena. Before leaving home, I started experiencing pain in a tooth on the left side of my mouth. I was debating whether to book yet another appointment with the very expensive dentist in my hometown, especially after having had some terrible experiences there. My girlfriend suggested I visit her dentist in Cartagena instead, which could also result in significant cost savings. At first, I was skeptical. Going to a dentist in a foreign country felt uncertain, and I didn’t know what to expect. However, from the moment we arrived, the experience was nothing short of outstanding. The level of professionalism, personal attention, clear explanations at every step, and genuine care truly exceeded my expectations. To give some context: I needed gum treatment and two root canals, so I spent a considerable amount of time at the clinic. The process began with an X-ray, followed by a detailed phone consultation where the entire treatment plan was explained from A to Z. After that, I received a quote that was roughly half of what I would have paid in the Netherlands. During the treatments, the staff consistently checked in to make sure I was comfortable and took great care to minimize any pain. They even offered me a blanket to keep me warm due to the air conditioning. For me, a great dentist isn’t about having the fanciest equipment, it’s about experience, patient engagement, and professionalism. I got a passionfruit seed stuck in my tooth a couple days prior. I could not get it out. I came in as a WALK IN, waited about 45mins and was seen by the dentist. She examined my mouth, took the seed out, and recommended me to fill in the tiny hole. BEST PART, NO CHARGE! I sent a message for an appointment as she was very busy to fill in my tooth. I will definitely be returning to her!!!

The service was excellent, and I was able to be seen on the same day. The staff is professional, and the facilities are very clean. I would not recommend, to start with it is a language issue and in order to communicate a translate platform was needed. Even though I gave a summary of my dental needs that were explained to me by my own dentist and subsequently a gum specialist they started a basic exam, X-ray, followed by basic cleaning, even though I explained a deep cleaning is required. Following that I was directed to an X-ray facility to take a panoramic scan. I was then contacted for a consultation to set up a plan for dental rehabilitation or procedures. I already had previous recent dental suggestions but accepted to meet to determine what they would suggest. I arrived early (15 mins) to my 10:30 appointment and after waiting until 11:45 I walked out. The receptionist was not even there, i subsequently sent them a message to their unprofessionalism . I did get an apology and explanation that there had been a complication with a patient causing the delay. At no time during my wait was I briefed on the situation. Was their apology because they were not professional or their excuses for an unacceptable delay. Regardless I have no confidence with this clinic and would not recommend it.
