The doctor was unfriendly, impatient, and full of ego. He didn’t care about my well-being, his focus was more on making a sale. Before starting the laser (if you’ve had laser you know it hurts!) treatment and PRP injections, he never mentioned that he wouldn’t be applying numbing cream or give me any kind of heads-up. When I reacted to the pain, he seemed surprised and annoyed, then very casually and dismissively said that since I had just done a hydrafacial, he couldn’t apply the cream afterward. Had I known that, I wouldn’t have done the hydrafacial in the first place. On top of that, he added a bunch of unnecessary products to my prescription, like a random tinted sunscreen and an overkill of creams, even after I told him I’m sensitive to most sunscreens and prefer lightweight formulas. I have been to so many kind dermatologists who truly worry and care about their patients comfort and individual needs. It was clear he wasn’t really listening to my needs or prioritizing my care—he was just trying to make a sale and get me in and out as fast as possible.
I had a great experience w Dr Gonzalez. We had a thorough and helpful virtual consultation before I arrived in Bogota, and when I was there his staff was very patient with my mediocre Spanish, while he explained everything thoroughly to me in perfect English!
Luis Fernando González is the best dermatologist I have met! Highly recommended, He and his group is more than 5 starts! I travel frequently to Bogotá Colombia because he is the only one who have found solutions in my skin problem and hair loss. Thank you for your excellent service.
Update: Part of good medical care is with the follow up. I was promised that they would notify me of the biopsy results within a week. Nada. I emailed them and also got no response. I assume the cyst was benign, as that was his strong suspicion, but I'm left not knowing for sure because I am unable to get a response. Original: I had the pleasure of visiting with Dr Gonzalez for a few reasons. First he did a cancer check and thankfully that was okay. Second he removed a 5 mm cyst from my back and stitched it back up. See photo. Finally I had a bunch of small white spots on my face which most people didn't notice but I did. He lasered them off one by one. I'd also like to thank him for making time for me in my time here. His practice is very busy and books up quickly. He squeezed me in at the end of the day and did all this on one appointment. He did his internship at Tulane and speaks perfect english. If you are in need of a great dermatologist in Bogota, Dr Luis is your man. Total cost was about $660 US. Would have been much more in the US, I have terrible insurance and it would not cover any of this except the office visit.
