A dear loved one recently experienced a tradgic, life changing event. Being at the wrong place and wrong time, within feet of a street fight, a full beer bottle was launched at his head, hitting him directly in his eye. After losing an exceptional amount of blood he was taken to Del Mar Hospital where a resident oversaw the situation. Over 24 hours passed and not one doctor came in to see him. The delivery of the news that “we are removing your right eye,” could not have been delivered with less tact or professionalism. It was a disgrace at this behavior. With this, and a raving recommendation by a friend, we moved him immediately to Ebenezer. This is the moment he started to be treated like a human. Everyone at the clinic attended to his situation with kindness and focus. Multiple doctors sat him in a room and discussed the options that lay before him. Multiple scans and tests were done to make sure the surgery was executed with all data and knowledge as possible. The 3-hour surgery was complicated but because he was treated with respect, he was at peace before the surgery, knowing that his eye was most likely to be removed in order to save the sight of the other eye. The surgery was complex. The next day, he said to me “I can’t thank you enough for all that you and your friends have done for me. The clinic was amazing. I felt so calm and comfortable. There were 4 doctors that sat me in a room and explained absolutely everything. They treated me like I mattered. It was clean and comfortable. The staff told me exactly what was going to happen and why. It was then, that I found peace and went into surgery in a good mental space. The tests they did on me were state of the art; at the other hospital they did nothing of the sort and I was treated was like a dog. Again thank you for everything-who knows what could have happened if I went somewhere else. 4-5mm more and the doctors said the glass would have gone into my brain and killed me.” As an American writing this, I have very high expectations for medical treatment. This clinic surpassed it all. And the treatment was as affordable. They made sure he had great aftercare and he is already seeing a psychologist to help him adjust. You are God’s angels. I hope I did not forget anyone. ❤️ He is healing wonderfully - physically and mentally. A week later and he can open his eye. The other facial wounds have been stitched well. He will roam with a prosthetic eye in a few months and life will go on ….and no one will know that he sees life a little bit differently now.

I had an urgent eye issue that Dra. Patricia Osorio Bustillo was so kind to take me last minute at the clinic. She was amazing, and so kind. It’s Saturday and she made calls to some friends of hers that are retina specialists, trying to get me seen by them. She did a very thorough exam and I would recommend her to anyone.

When my son's glasses were damaged during manufacturing, Yuris arranged to send them to us when we moved to Panama.
