Hospital Universitario San Ignacio (HUSI) is the university hospital of the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana, located in central Bogotá at Carrera 7 # 40-62. It is a high-complexity (fourth-level) general teaching hospital offering a comprehensive range of clinical and surgical specialties. Emergency room is a freezer, and the attencion is worst. No one sees you as a human just a number on a list.
I was stuck in the waiting rom 8 hrs. And no one wanted to attend. Outraged.

They used to deliver with good assitance till back in 2024 ... last time had to get to them due to a soar throat .. all what I got said is we can't honour you with authorized medical leave, since considering your affections are mild, and don't classify to entitled you as unable to work for whatever time I would apply for under general sickness !!! WHAT a nonsense is that, should I then keeping it up at work even with the fact that my job involves 100 % to have to talk to customers from outset to end of every day shift ?? Are you guys out of your head, get it right have a hard soar throat and can't barely talk, at least for long lenghts as required in my everyday activity at work... god sake they still simply accept abscense even with single medical diagnosis, and recommendations, otherwise might have costed me sanction, or even worse would have carried me to written memo... pls stop coming up with absurd diagnosis, and making one feel that one is making up a current physical status.. stop assuming yourselves when it is appropiate to grant on medical leaves, would not have bear a whole solid night sitted at your headquaters waiting for your response and handling, if I have hadn't actual affections that prevented me from carrying out my duties at work.. your assistance is all in all a bad joke!!

I know this is a hospital but in it lies an unexpected, sweet treasure. The carrot cake at the cafeteria downstairs. Never disappoints. I've had it twice and is outrageously delicious. Don't miss it. 😉

This review is about the ER, psychiatry unit and the geriatric service. A couple of weeks ago I had a close family member hospitalized with Alzheimer's disease symptoms and unable to eat. The access through ER was ok, but soon you have to go through an extremely long wait for anything to happen. In the meantime the patient has to wait somewhere in a tight hallway where everybody is passing by and bumping into each other. It is clear that the the famous San Ignacio hospital is victim if it's own success and academic reputation, and outgrew by far its capacity. I have been told that a new hospital will be built from the ground up some time soon. This is good, but also means, is you have an emergency today, go somewhere else!! The staff try to meet the patient's needs but they are just overwhelmed, and develop bad habits just to survive the crushing demand.
Once a bed was assigned, the psychiatry unit looks like an afterthought. It is way too small for the service it tries to provide. Rooms are small, hallways extremely narrow, the nursing staff seems poorly trained and the medical staff (mostly residents) exhibit a coldness toward patients and family members that in nothing reflect the values that the organization advertises.
But the worst experience was with the department of geriatrics, which simply failed miserably to study and identify the cause of the nutritional problems my relative was having. A little more than a week after my relative was sent home, she had to be rushed to the ER in another hospital where an advanced metastatic cancer of the digestive system was identified. The findings were so extensive that San Ignacio's staff failure to diagnose is just unacceptable for an organization that is considered high level.
San Ignacio hospital may have the "know how" in certain departments, but psychiatry and geriatrics leave a lot to be desired. If San Ignacio hospital was considered a model sometime in the past, with certainty, I can say it is not today. For those thinking on specializing in psychiatry or geriatrics, this is not the place either.

I don't recommend it at all. I'm pregnant with 19 weeks and a deep colic accompanied by an also deep pain in my coccyx and low back. I have 4 hours, 4 hours waiting for being assisted and nothing. I can imagine I'll be here other 4 hours for the rest of processes. Since I have been here one person per hour has been assisted... it doesnt make sense. Very poor sense of human health, poor attention. Please don't come here never. You could be dying and it seems the rule is you have to wait.
