Dr. Luz Naranjo is a general practitioner in Medellín, Colombia, who runs an English-speaking family medicine practice aimed at expats, travelers, and international visitors. According to her practice, services include general-practitioner consultations, prescription services, blood tests and laboratory/imaging referrals, medical examinations for visas and scholarships, sexually transmitted disease consultations, and integral women’s health care. She also offers online (telehealth) consultations and, per patient testimonials on her site, house visits, which can be helpful for patients who are new to the city or feeling unwell. The practice is presented entirely in English, making it easier for non-Spanish speakers to navigate care in a new country. Medellín has become a popular medical-tourism and expat hub, with modern private healthcare and a comfortable climate. Dr. Naranjo is truly exceptional. From the moment you meet her, it’s clear she genuinely cares, not just about your symptoms, but about you as a whole person. She brings a rare mix of warmth and sharp clinical insight. She may look like she’s in her 30s, but her depth of knowledge, especially when it comes to navigating your 40s with a history of fibroids, thyroid issues, and family heart concerns, is incredibly reassuring. This doctor knows exactly what she’s doing.
As someone who recently obtained birthright citizenship in Colombia, I can say the transition of becoming an “immigrant” in your parents’ country is not easy. As a first-generation Colombian American, finally being here has been emotional and meaningful—but also came with real concerns, especially about continuing the medication I’ve relied on for 18 years to stay stable. I was genuinely worried. Dr. Naranjo didn’t just address that, she handled it with care, zero judgment, and a clear commitment to making sure I remain consistent, stable, and able to keep thriving.
What stands out most is how thorough and attentive she is. She listens closely, never rushes, and approaches everything with compassion and professionalism. She makes sure you’re not just treated, but truly taken care of—especially when it comes to something as critical as ongoing medication.
She’s bilingual, thoughtful, and even her love for cats adds a human touch that makes you feel at ease. Yes, she’s busy, but there’s a reason for that. Doctors like her are rare. Be patient and she will get to you and care for you as if you are her only patient. I felt seen.
I also want to sincerely thank Guillermo, who made sure I was able to get my appointment today. That level of support made a real difference.
I couldn’t be more grateful or more confident in having her as my general practitioner.
I reached out yesterday to schedule an appointment. Someone named “assistant Guillermo” responded and asked my reason for consultation. I responded and they never got back to me.
They need to do better with customer service and scheduling.
I'm really surprised to read the negative reviews about Dr Luz and her staff. I have never experienced any delays or problems with her assistant. Kathe has been extraordinarily attentive and prompt answering my requests, even at weekends. Dr Luz is amazing and precise with her knowledge and experience. She is very personable and treats me like a friend. And as previous reviewers have stated, fluent and flawless in English. Highly recommended.
I had a wonderful experience. I was able to be fit in the same day. It was worth the money. Dr. Luz took her time. She answered all my questions. She recommended specialists. The office was modern and clean. The receptionists were pleasant. I’m grateful to have found a good English speaking doctor!
