Description
Clínica Sagrado Corazón is a hospital in Medellín, located in the Buenos Aires neighborhood (Calle 49 #35-61), with an outpatient site nearby on Carrera 36. It provides emergency care, an adult intensive care unit, hospitalization and surgical services, along with specialized consultations in areas such as hematology and gastroenterology, a clinical laboratory and diagnostic imaging. The hospital describes a person-centered approach and runs a patient-experience office to support patients and families. Medellín is a well-established center for healthcare in Colombia, drawing both domestic and international patients. The clinic’s public information is primarily in Spanish and does not detail dedicated international-patient services, so travelers from abroad should confirm English-language support, scheduling and the specialists relevant to their needs directly with the hospital before visiting. To ask about services or arrange a visit, use the Call or WhatsApp buttons on this page to contact the clinic directly.

During the hospitalization of an elderly relative, I witnessed extremely serious deficiencies:
Biosafety risk: They lack basic supplies such as soap in both private and public bathrooms (a direct violation of Resolution 3100 of 2019), exposing patients to cross-infections.
Neglect of care: Nursing staff sometimes take more than an hour to answer an emergency call from the patient's room.
Illegal conduct at the entrance: The private security detail oversteps its bounds, attempting to illegally and forcibly search caregivers' bags (violating Article 15 of the Constitution) and threatening to block access, instead of facilitating accompaniment to the patient.
We are light years away from the excellence and genuine humanism found in institutions that do respect the rules, such as the Pablo Tobón Uribe Hospital.
I make a sincere appeal to all users who have felt mistreated and poorly cared for:
If you have been a victim of this clinic's mediocrity, DO NOT normalize the mistreatment. Laws and regulations are the pact that sustains our society; without them, we are at the mercy of the most inept arbitrariness.
DO NOT leave your complaints only in the suggestion boxes or at the clinic's patient services office; they operate under administrative silence and could hide those complaints. Escalate your case by always filing a PQRD (Petition, Complaint, Claim, or Request) directly on the Superintendency of Health's website. It is the only way to legally compel them to respond, to have files opened against them, and to force EPSs (Health Promoting Entities) like SURA to stop sending patients to such incompetent places.

My mother was admitted to the Sagrado Corazón Clinic in Buenos Aires two weeks after undergoing a total hip replacement surgery for an outpatient procedure. However, from that moment on, the medical management was inadequate: the medication she was given, along with the lack of follow-up after the procedure, triggered a series of complications that progressively worsened until they caused her death.
In addition to the overall poor care, during her stay they also compromised her hip surgery. We don't know how they moved her, but despite knowing her condition, they caused a dislocation that resulted in severe internal bleeding. In a matter of days, her hemoglobin dropped to 4.4, which caused irreversible damage to her health.
Added to this was the lack of clear and timely information from the medical staff. On several occasions, we felt that important information was omitted, which increased our anguish and uncertainty.
Overall, the care was deficient: poor patient follow-up, use of very strong medications without proper monitoring, inappropriate handling during mobilization, and a clear lack of protocols tailored to the patient's specific condition. All of this contributed to a fatal outcome.
Our recommendation is that if you decide to take a family member to this clinic, pay extremely close attention to every detail, ask all possible questions, and don't take anything for granted. We trusted the medical team, as any family would, but our experience showed us that our trust was not reciprocated.
We lived through the worst experience of our lives and lost our mother in the process. It's something we wouldn't wish on anyone.
