Description

Clínica Medical is a private general hospital in the south of Bogotá, in the Kennedy area (Calle 36 Sur #77-33). According to the clinic, its facilities include 161 hospital beds, intensive-care units, 17 operating rooms and roughly 20,000 m² of installed capacity, along with diagnostic imaging (MRI, CT, digital X-ray and echocardiography), plus endoscopy and hemodialysis equipment. The clinic’s own materials and public coverage reference trauma care and microsurgery among its services. The facility is supervised by Colombia’s health authority (Supersalud) and states it received an IOCIM 2024 award for institutional quality in healthcare. Bogotá is a well-established medical-tourism destination, and hospitals of this size typically combine emergency, surgical, inpatient and laboratory/diagnostic services on a single campus. During the accident, I want to acknowledge that I received prompt attention and proper care. However, upon my discharge, they abandoned my case. No clinic would treat me because I didn't have the FURIPS document that the Medical Clinic should have provided, despite repeated requests via email. To this day, I have received no response. Similarly, when I call, the advisors don't answer. I've been dealing with a fracture and a contusion for a month now, and they haven't been treated.

On May 10, 2026, I had a motorcycle accident and was taken to the Kennedy Medical Center by SOAT (mandatory traffic accident insurance). I was admitted around 2:00 AM, had X-rays taken to assess my condition, and then received treatment. They told me I was about to be discharged, but I told them my ankle hurt a lot, was swollen, and I couldn't walk. They kept me waiting until 8:00 AM without giving me any answers. Then a nurse came to bring me breakfast, and I asked her if she could please help me speak to a doctor since my ankle was hurting so much and no one had examined me. After a while, a doctor arrived and gave me a cursory examination but didn't say anything. An hour later, I asked another doctor if he could help me, and he reviewed my X-rays and said I had a lateral malleolus fracture. He asked what he would tell the doctor so she could put me in a cast, since it was a non-displaced fracture and could be treated with just a cast and not a splint. After the operation, the doctor took me to a room where she was going to put the cast on me. While she was doing it, there were two other workers there. She was talking to them while performing the procedure and wasn't even paying attention to what she was doing; she was just laughing and joking with the other two people the whole time. After that, she gave me some orders to pick up some medications and an order for an X-ray in four weeks, as well as a follow-up appointment with the orthopedist after the X-ray. When I went to request the medications and appointments, they told me they weren't scheduling appointments at the moment, but that I could request the paperwork from an email address they gave me and request medical appointments at any center that accepts SOAT accident claims. They never even scheduled a follow-up appointment for me to check on my condition. After insisting for two weeks that they send me my medical records and the SOAT package, my mother had to go there and file a complaint so that they would only send me the SOAT package, since to this day I haven't received my medical records. My mother tried again to request the appointments I contacted them, and they washed their hands of it again, saying that with the SOAT package I could request the appointments at any center that accepts SOAT claims. I managed to get the appointments on my own at Clínica Colombia and Clínica del Occidente. Today, June 9, 2026, I went to my X-ray appointment at Clínica Colombia, and they told me they couldn't see me because Medical is responsible for follow-up since they were the ones who initially received me. I went to Medical again, and they told me they weren't providing the service, but that with the SOAT package they could see me for the orthopedic appointment at Clínica del Occidente. Therefore, I'm forced to pay for X-rays at a private center since Medical refused to provide the service they were responsible for. Then I went to Clínica del Occidente, and they told me they couldn't see me because Medical was the one who initially received me and they are responsible. If they refuse, I have to go to a level four hospital. Medical refuses to take responsibility for follow-up treatment; it's been a month. Sending me from one place to another without giving me an answer, even though they already charged me for the SOAT (mandatory traffic accident insurance) and are shirking responsibility for the medical follow-ups they themselves should have provided. As of today, June 9, 2026, I still haven't received my medical records, which were requested on May 12, 2026. The doctor responsible in the documents is Julieth Dayanna Pedraza Sánchez, ID number 1030687050.

I was in a car accident and was taken to the Kennedy branch. Everything seemed fine at the time; they took x-rays and told me I have a fracture, but they said they didn't handle the entire process. They just told me I had to make an appointment with another specialist center for my case, presenting the FURIPS documentation and other documents. But they neither see me nor send the documents. I've had my fracture for three weeks and still haven't received the documents, and I haven't been able to do anything about it. It's extremely urgent that I need those documents, and nothing. That's the sad part. I've gone there, and they don't give me any information, just tell me to wait for the documents. This situation is driving me crazy; it's impossible to get those documents. I think we should take this case to the Superintendency of Health.
My husband was there because of a traffic accident. We can only be grateful that the first few minutes of care saved his life, but the same cannot be said for the surgery and post-operative period. I was never able to speak with the surgeons, and during his last hospitalization, they forgot to give me his discharge instructions because the surgeon, who wasn't available, was supposed to provide them. The information is always incredibly incomplete, not to mention the delays in receiving documents. It's been a month, and we still haven't received his medical records. If they've already closed the two other locations in the city, it probably won't be long before they do the same here.
