Healthcare in Colombia is terrible.
The hospital in Quinchía, Risaralda, at least treats one tooth 🦷🦷🦷🦷, but Nueva EPS and Clínica Confamiliar, besides making you wait 🦷🦷🦷🦷, have the added insult of messing with people and wasting your time ⏱️.

Terrible service. How can they make such a simple procedure like general surgery so complicated? "There's no system," "There's no internet." It's awful that a franchise like this lacks such quality. It's a real nuisance to be forced to deal with procedures that don't speed up in the slightest. Inadequate.

The staff is rude, indifferent to their patients, and ignores calls. The doctors are never present, and the nurses are rude and impossible to find. The care is appalling, services are neglected, orders are not processed, and basic patient management protocols are unknown.
They place their patients in the most miserable conditions. Their human decency is perverse.

The waiting room sign said the wait was 3 hours. We went in for chest pain, they did blood tests and an EKG. We waited the full 3 hours, and when we finally spoke to the doctor, she said we'd have to wait 5 hours. Basically, they see you whenever the doctor feels like it. A 5-hour wait for chest pain is unreasonable. The staff was friendly, but in this case, we needed timely medical attention, and the supplemental insurance is useless.

On August 19th, I took my daughter to the emergency room at the Comfamiliar Risaralda Clinic because she had a very bad cough. Since then, we have made a total of three visits to the emergency room, and on none of them did we receive adequate medical attention or an accurate diagnosis.

On the third occasion, the triage was performed by a nurse, not a doctor, identified as Miguel Ángel Londoño Orrego, who behaved dismissively, inhumanely, and with a complete lack of dedication to service. He disrespectfully insisted that the girl “didn’t have anything wrong with her,” completely downplaying the symptoms that were clearly worsening over the following days. As a mother, I felt treated carelessly and without the dignity that patients deserve.

Faced with this situation, and seeing that my daughter's condition was worsening, we went to a private pediatrician, who immediately diagnosed it as pertussis (whooping cough). This highlights the lack of rigor and seriousness in the emergency room assessments at this clinic, where three times in a row I was assured that "it was nothing serious." What's most alarming is that, when we returned for a follow-up appointment due to a warning sign, we were seen again by the same nurse, who repeated the same attitude and unprofessional behavior, again saying that "she was fine." As a mother, I requested a change of doctor at the time, as it was clear that we were not receiving dignified or responsible treatment.

Furthermore, during one of the visits, another mother who was there told me that her son had also been told "he was fine" when he developed a cough, and that she later had to take him back on a stretcher, in critical condition and almost convulsing.

It is unacceptable and deeply concerning that a clinic "recognized as one of the most prestigious and highest-level in Risaralda" acts with such carelessness and indifference toward the health of children, exposing them to complications that could have been prevented with proper medical care. This experience has left me with profound indignation and distrust, as the health and lives of patients must be the priority. Medical care must be serious, professional, and delivered with genuine dedication, something that was completely absent in my experience.
