AEQUI is a multidisciplinary mental-health and rehabilitation center in the Country district of northern Bogotá (Calle 83 #16A-44). It brings psychiatry together with psychology (individual, couples and family therapy), neuropsychology, occupational and physical therapy, cognitive stimulation, speech-language therapy and hearing assessments under one roof. Its psychiatry service, per the clinic, provides diagnosis, medication management and personalized treatment for conditions including anxiety, depression, obsessive-compulsive symptoms, phobias, eating disorders, sleep problems and neurodevelopmental disorders, serving young people and adults. I was a patient at this center for a few months, and honestly, I don't recommend it. They changed my psychiatrist more than twice without warning. For those who are patients, changing psychiatrists is complicated because you have to explain again what you already explained months ago; it feels like a step backward. However, today was the last straw. They changed my doctor again and gave me a confusing prescription that the pharmacy refused to fill. I had to go back to the center to get it corrected, and it took them more than two hours to do so, wasting my time and money. This place has a huge lack of empathy for its patients. I understand that doctors have full schedules, but when a mistake on a prescription prevents a patient from receiving their medication, the least they can do is prioritize it.
My mother has been attending this psychiatric center for a few months now, despite their frequent mistakes. But today was the last straw. A few months ago, they made THE MISTAKE of scheduling an appointment and sending me to ANOTHER location, wasting my time and money on transportation. I let it slide because, well, anyone can make a mistake. Another problem is that they change psychiatrists without notifying you. How is it possible for someone to continue treatment if the doctor changes all the follow-up appointments? But today they made the SERIOUS mistake of disrespecting us. They issued an incorrect prescription, and when I went to the pharmacy to buy the medication, they refused to sell it to me because it was confusing. I had to go back so they could change the prescription, but they didn't do it right away. They made me wait for more than TWO HOURS!! To make a change that should have taken them a minute. And the worst part is the lack of empathy. My mother was anxiously waiting at a pharmacy for over two hours without any communication with me because she can't walk much and she's elderly. On top of that, they don't even apologize; they answer reluctantly what kind of psychiatric center that is.
Dr. Hernan Yesid Rojas is an excellent psychology professional. I am immensely grateful to him, as his advice was very accurate; I put it into practice and it worked. AEQUI is an institution that has truly benefited teachers and our families, and personally, it was VERY helpful to me in the difficulties we faced in our work and personal lives. I am saddened that FOMAG is terminating its contracts with AEQUI. FOMAG officials, please consider continuing these contracts that genuinely benefit teachers.
